Hello,

Today I did my first ever refund.  The customer has their receipt, so I hit the refund button and entered the receipt number.  First off, what a great refund system.  I was able to select the item she no longer wanted and return just that 1 item from the receipt, brilliant.  So, it added the item to inventory and did a refund for $187.95.  At the end of the night we did a Z report.  When doing a credit card settlement, the total was $707.60, it showed a refund of $187.95 and the grand total was $519.65 for credit card total.  We put into the Z Report $519.65 (the amount after the $187.95 refund) and the printed Z report said we had an error of -187.95.  I don't get how that is possible?  Is it just showing the refund then?  It seems as if it is saying we are still $187.95 short, even after we already took out the $187.95 from the credit card overall total.

I am not at the store to see myself, my manager called in with the news.  Any ideas?

Even if we have a refund to a credit card, should we still put in the GRAND total from the credit card settlement?  In this case $707.60?  If so, there would have been a zero error.  But does the refund then show up on the printed Z report.  Thanks for any insight.

Title says it all.  I know you can hide items from a search.  But we are using the "F7 Find Product" search key for instance when a customer comes in and says "Do you have the Oakley Blender Signature Series Sunglasses in Tortoise Brown"  (Instead of going to the case and trying to find it in the sea of glasses in front of us, we can search and it will tell us if we have any "Blender" style Oakleys at all and the color, etc.  However if we currently have zero of them on hand, because we sold one yesterday, it will of course still show it in the search since it is in the system.  And I don't want employees having access to product control when I am not here so their only option is "F7 Find Product" to search by style or color, etc.

I know it's a pretty detailed question but I would rather ask and hope that there is a way, if not we can still get by.  And loving the software more and more each day. =)

I have reduced all text on the receipt to quicken up my end but I see there is a way to make some receipt printers print faster.  Is it possible for the Bix. SRP-275?  If so, how is this done?  Thank you

Hello again,

I never seem to cease with the questions but here we go....

title says it all, is it possible to "MASS MOVE" items to a new category/dept.?

Let's say I have 1,000 sunglasses currently listed under "Sunglasses."  I want to make a new Dept. for Cheaper Sunglasses and another dept. for High Quality Sunglasses and move 500 sunglasses from the dept. they are in now over to a new dept., is that possible to do a mass move?  Or will I need to go into each item and select a new dept.?

Thank you. =)

When I initially put the items into inventory I put their descriptive parts in the "Long Description"  I agree I need to go back through and redo them.  Thanks for the input.  It's been a big help. =)

I think the update did the trick!!!

I've tried it twice now and it is working how it should.  It always acted as ctrl+click on first sale but seems to be working fine now.  Thank you.  :D

The majority of our glasses are cheap, about $12.  We do not inventory them or give them specific SKUs, they are simply put into the system as "1 Pair Sunglasses" with a price of $12.00.  The receipt shows "1 Pair Sunglasses".

However, we then carry Oakley, Ray Ban, Coach, Maui Jim, etc and they can run $200 - $300 so we inventory those glasses.  I would say 99% of customers will only buy 1 pair.  There is an Oakley style called "Gascan", in which they may have 10 different types.  They all look the same but are different colors or some are polarized.  They each have unique SKUs to tell them apart.  So on the receipt it simply says "Gascan".  Which I figured should be sufficient because I don't see many people purchasing multiples of the same sunglasses at $200 a piece.

DO you have any ideas that come to mind or suggestions?  I was considering changing the ITEM# to the SKU, so it will print out on reports.  Thanks for any insight.

Actually yes, I see now if I hit "FIND" the green plus icon is over there to add it if the SKU did not come up.  Thanks a bunch.

Ronald, yes I try to restart the print jobs but to no avail.  Only thing I can do is cancel them but even if I cancel all of them and clean out the active print jobs it still will not print a sale if I try another one.  I have messed around with it greatly and the ONLY option is to restart the entire system.  As soon as the computer reboots (before I even have a chance to click on anything) the receipts print out if I did not clear them and the drawer kicks open.

It's almost as if it times out.  I can definitely see in the Summer it being a problem.  In July & August we have a constant line at the register and speed is everything.  If we have to restart the computer it could take minutes and I am also afraid of an employee messing up and now the register balance would be off at the end of the night because they tried to ring up the sale again thinking it did not go through.

Any helpful advice you can get from the manufacturer would be great.  I have downloaded the latest drivers directly from their site as well.  I thought it fixed it, but after about 6 hours it did it again.  I set it to print directly to the printer so hopefully it wont spool and get stuck, not sure if it will help but it's worth a try.

I remember seeing a post about speeding up receipt printers.  Is it possible to speed up the SRP275?  And is it hard to adjust those settings?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks, got that update.  I don't think I would ever use the ctrl+click feature in the sales window to change a product.  It's handy but I've gotten used to going to Product Control.  So if I want to turn that feature off of ctrl+click from the sales window, you're saying that is possible?

If the update does not resolve this situation, how can I disable that feature?  Thank you.

Dustin

Gotcha and that is a smart way of doing it because they are all unique.  My problem is I may have 10 different styles of Oakley "Gascan" sunglasses so on the report it may list item #300 - #310 but it then just says "Gascan" in the description so we had no way of distinguishing on the report which exact one might be missing if we only counted 9 of them.  Sometimes I overlook the simplest solutions.  I just wasnt sure if it was possible to add it to the report somehow, but I will just make it the Item#.  Hopefully there is not a small max number of characters allowed for the item # and it can hold a UPC number.  Thanks for the tip!
