ezPower / Anyone else having print problems with Bixolon 275?
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:36:38 AM »
Hello,

I thought I had this figured out but this morning it came back to bite me in the butt.  I am using the software with the Bixolon 275 receipt printer on x64 Windows 7.  I first tried installing the driver software from the CD but it would not install correctly on this system as to how the directions said it should.  So I went to their website and found an updated driver that installed great and removed the conflicting driver in the process.  I also (from the recommendation of Ronald) installed a generic print driver to use which works as well.  The problem that I am having is that the system will work fine, print receipts and kick the drawer open.  But after a few hours of being idle (leaving it overnight or walking away from it) if we come back and make a sale the sale finishes fine however it does not print a receipt and will not kick the drawer open.  Instead the "receipt print" is sitting down in the printer toolbar "spooling" to be printed.  We can do make 10 sales and there will be 10 print jobs waiting the queue. Even if we restart the POS software it will not print, the only way to make it print is to restart the computer.  after the reboot it sends all 10 print jobs to the printer and will kick the drawer open.

Any ideas on how to fix this?  it is becoming a real hassle when we have a line of customers and have to restart the computer in order to get the printer to work.

I just though of something to at least try, I am going to set it to print directly to the printer and not spool.  I will update my progress.

I have messed around with a few things, tried a different keyboard even and restarted the computer and program.  It still does it every single time.  With the first sale it is like I am holding ctrl+click, it goes to the "edit product" screen.  I click out of that screen and redo it and then it works like normal.  But goes to the edit product screen every time the first time.

Sincerely,

ezPower / Get UPC/SKU to print on inventory reports
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:30:39 AM »
Hello, I can not find a way to get the UPC to print for inventory checks.  It should be easy but I cannot figure it out.  I go to Product Control and find the grouping I want to print, I make sure NOT to "hide" UPS so I see it there on my screen.  But when I print a report it excludes the UPC from the report.  The problem with this is I have for instance 10 Oakley sunglasses that are all the same style (let's call them GASCAN's), all with different UPC/SKU's and with different item numbers.  So when I print the report it may give me the item numbers 800 - 810 and it simply says they are all "GASCAN' in the description but I can't tell them apart because I am not getting a printed UPC.  Any help?  I greatly appreciate it!!!

ezPower / Re: Stocktake
« on: March 22, 2013, 05:53:17 AM »
Hello (different user here than the OP).  Adding on to that, lets say just for easy math I have only 10 items I am selling that are all in the POS with their own unique barcode.  I get a new order in and I add them to the inventory as you listed above however there is a new item with a new barcode.  Now my employees may not be able to distinguish that this is a new item with a new barcode not yet in the database.  If they try and scan the barcode and add it to stock, what will happen?  And will it alert them it is not in the database so they could be a new "Product" for it with all the correct information (ie.: price, name, barcode, etc.)?

Or is there a better way for us to check for new barcodes on new shipments that may not be in the system.  The thing is we will get a shipment in of perhaps 10,000 sunglasses!  They all look somewhat alike so it is hard to know if it is already in the system or a new style that just came out.

Thanks for the help as always! =)

ezPower / A way to not count an item as "inventory"
« on: March 22, 2013, 05:47:01 AM »
I did a search but couldn't find an answer.  I have a few items in which I will not be tracking their inventory.  It would be too time consuming and not worth the effort.  Is there a way to make a particular item that is for sale not count against inventory?  or at least not show up on a reorder report or inventory report?  The only way I can think of is to set the "Stock" to 9,999 and just remember to go through and do this maybe every year, but I would prefer a way to hide an item from the inventory count, or just make it not deduct a Stock every time 1 is sold.  Thanks! =)

It happens every time with the first ring up, and only the first ring up.  I will try and check a few things and perhaps make sure the ctrl key is not sticking, but if it was it should do it with each click then.  But it only does it the first time.  It's like a weird glitch.

ezPower / Need help with Commision settings.
« on: March 18, 2013, 02:07:52 PM »
So I am selling retail items in which some items have commission and some do not.  I know how to create a commission percentage when creating a new product.  However a few questions I have are:
  • Commission can only be tracked by sales made by Staff, correct?  So any cashier sales are not linked to commission, correct?  So if all of my employees are able to get commission, I need to make them all Staff and have no cashiers, correct?
  • Is the only way to find out weekly commission (so I can add it to their check) to go to Reports>Staff>Product and search for the employee 1 by 1?  Is there a commission report that would list all employees names with the amount of commissioned they have earned in one report?
  • Since I currently have the employees all set up as Staff (only way I know how to track commission) I went into Manager>Settings>General and check marked the box for "Must Select a Staff".  This way they will be logged in correctly to get their commission.  However it is asking us to log in every sale (actually seems like twice a sale) and throughout the day we do hundreds of transactions, it would be very annoying to log in for each sale.  Is there a setting to make sure an employee logs in for just commissionable item sales? I noticed if no one is logged in and it is just on General Cashier and a purchase is made the commissionable sale goes to no one.  How do you suggest I set this up so when a sale is made of a commissionable item that the correct employee is logged in (without them having to log in each and every sale).  Out of 300 sales, 5 may only be commissionable items.
I hope that was clear enough.  I am sure you can get a general idea of what I am looking to do.  I just am unsure if it should be done another way.  I didn't find any information in the HELP doc about commission.  Thank you for your help!   ;)

So, upon starting the software I go into Sales and if I touch my screen or click my mouse on a product I am trying to sell (ie.: a pair of sunglasses) it open up the "Product Edit - Settings" window instead of adding the item to the sale.  After it does this the first time and I exit the "Product Edit - Settings" window it will not do it again and from then on when I push the icon for a sunglass sale, it will add it to the order like it is supposed to.  This error only occurs for the first sale being made and it occurs every time.  Any way to fix this bug?  Thank you.

By the way, I absolutely love this product and your support.  I actually informed a high school friend to purchase a system from you just a few weeks back (Coach's Pizza in Waverly, NY) because I liked it so much! Thanks =)

Hello Ron,

I just purchased the software a few days ago and was wondering if my current version (13.712) will have this issue already fixed.  We Z-Out every night and the employees take getting the drawer balanced very seriously.  I just want to make sure they wont have any issues with days being off.  Do I need a fix/patch as well for my version?  Thanks

ezPower / Is there a way to sort the Products under a Category?
« on: February 08, 2013, 06:33:52 AM »
I notice that the products are being sorted by using the time they are input into the system.  But lets say I want to put my very best sellers at the beginning of the list.  Is there a way to do that.  I thought by changing the Item # it would do that but it didn't.  I see I can sort Dept. & Categories, but what about actual Items within those Categories?

Thanks!
