Using a coupon with a -Commission sounds like a bad idea and my testing shows it wouldn't work.

Yeah, I later tried and got no result.  Any creative ideas around this?

ezPower / Trying to understand Low Inventory Settings and Reordering
« on: September 04, 2013, 06:09:13 PM »
Sorry for all the questions, I nearly have everything figured out.

One thing I could use a better explanation of is getting a report when I need to reorder a product who's stock is low.  If I create a product, let's say a notepad.  I give it a price, cost and stock quantity of 20.  I then click on the "Options" Tab and select "Inventory Priority"?  I have this selected for all my main inventory but have never gotten a report, that is part of my next question.  To continue, I then go to the "Ordering" Tab and for Order Point I input 3.  So when I get down from 20 to only 3 left I should be notified correct?  How does this happen?  What report do I check?

Also, some items I want set to zero because I only keep 1 on hand.  Will reaching zero trigger a reorder report, or do I have to input 1 or greater to "turn on" this feature.  ie: leaving it at zero keeps it disabled?

What I would like is as items sell I can go in and get a reorder report so I can go ahead and place my order from what has sold.  Much easier then tracking down what has sold using sales reports.  A reorder report would have just the things I want.

A way on how to correctly be using this would be very helpful.  I looked for it in the HELP.doc but I don't think I found my answer.

Thanks

ezPower / Sell a commissionable item and add coupon and remove commission?
« on: September 04, 2013, 06:20:06 AM »
I know the title sounds complex, let me explain.

Let's say I have a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses I am selling for $100 that earn 5% commission.  I then offer a promotion to a local big business for 30% off if they use a coupon I give them.  By time I have shipping costs, commission and the discount there is no profit.  So in this rare case, is it possible to sell an item that normally would have 5% commission but have a way so when I scan a 30% off coupon, it removes the commission, or at least negates it?

Perhaps if I make a Product that offers 30% OFF can I do something like make the commission on that 30% OFF Product (negative) -5% to negate the 5% commission of the actual product being sold?  Any ideas on how to achieve what I am looking to do? Thanks

**EDIT** Just tried giving the coupon a negative 5% commission, but that does not remove the commission.  It appears a negative commission is impossible.  Any way you can think of to do what I am trying to do.  Out of the thousands of transaction, hunting down the 30% off sales, then hunting down which employee did what and then removing the commission during Payroll would take A LOT of time, too much to make it worth the headache.  Looking for an automatic system during ring-up to negate it back to zero% commission.

ezPower / Re: Avg Cost
« on: September 04, 2013, 06:15:01 AM »
Average Cost is the "average" of the cost you set for an item in the Product Control Window.

If you go to Product Control and have an item, let's say it's a can of Soda for example.  It's retail price is $1.50 but under cost you put 0.50 cents.  Well if I understand it right, let's say a year ago your cost was set at .35 cents, now it's .50 cents but tomorrow it is going to go up to .60 cents and you religiously change it in the POS system as your cost is affected, then it will show you your "average" cost of the long run for that item.

One way to UPDATE this to current cost settings (which I prefer to do often as I adjust" is to go to Product Control and go to "Tools" and click "Set Avg Cost to Cost."  This will reset your cost for items to exactly what you currently have for each product.

Hope that helps

ezPower / Re: Ronald, any way to change master password
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:39:31 AM »
It definitely comes in handy if you ever get locked out. Ask Ronald to PM or e-mail it to you.  I was going to just now but then for all I know you could be an employee looking to gain full access, lol.

DO NOT save it on your POS computer. Employees are sneaky and will come across it.  =/

Perhaps save it in your cell phone/wallet/etc.

ezPower / Ronald, any way to change master password
« on: August 28, 2013, 09:13:19 AM »
So, I saved the Master Password you gave me deep within my computer where only I would know where it was at.  Well stupid me, my employees found out if they go into wordpad it was right there listed under RECENT DOCUMENTS.  They weren't snooping but using Wordpad and it just happened to be listed under recent documents as "Master Password."  So now everyone has found it out, giving them the ability to do ANYTHING they want to do, take out inventory, etc.

How can I change this?

217
That is what I normally get 99% of the time.  But when I had it set up before all the recent changes, I was getting the "Some Items May Have Printed Already! Clearing This Ticket Will Be Recorded In The Managers Log" on commissioned products when clearing a sale that has been taken off the screen (ie.: ringing it up and backing out of the system).

Since the changes not happening anymore.

218
Well  :o

All I can say is a am dumbfounded.  I tried my efforts to reproduce the method I used to adjust inventory by printing and clearing a sale but this time without any results.  I am 100% positive it did alter results when I did it last week.  I then changed NUMEROUS settings; removing Menu Bar, many many security settings and more.  I now retried this morning with no change to inventory level at all.  I am unsure how it worked last week, perhaps the perfect storm of settings that allowed it but I know it did work 100%.  Tried it just now and nothing (thankfully).  Also by removing the menu bar and having to have my admin password to "Print Receipt" I am no longer worried about it, also restricting access to Manager Window to myself has decreased any issues.

Not sure what to say about how it worked before, but it looks like I don't have to worry about it anymore.   :D

Yes, I think what may be best is to actually videotape what I am doing and upload it to YouTube for viewing.  Very strange that it is just happening on my end.

I also did a test and put in a product (Ray Ban sunglasses) that has commission and tracked inventory and then didn't finish the sale, but also didn't clear the sale right away either.  I left it in sales control as UNPAID.  I then waited after a few sales (I never printed a receipt at all, just let it sit there) and then CLEARED the sale (just hit clear sale) I got the message saying "Some Items May Have Printed Already! Clearing This Ticket Will Be Recorded In The Managers Log"

But yet I never printed anything.  Don't understand why I got that?  I was the only one working that morning.  That isn't much of a big deal but I found it curious I still got that when I never printed anything at all, just let it sit then cleared it later.

I am just a fellow user, not an admin.

I know to delete an item without clearing the sale I simply click on it with the mouse and select delete from the keyboard.  We are using a touch screen but it does help to have a keyboard/mouse as well.  You can delete an individual item without clearing the whole sale that way.

The only control I have noticed over receipt options is in the "Manager Control"  >  Settings  >  Printer Options.  Nothing to hide subtotal, only hide tax amount.  I wouldn't personally want to hide everything.  Customer like to see the breakdown of a total and where their money went, how much to product, how much to tax, etc.

"They steal by not Finishing the sale, print a copy of the receipt, keep the payment and then clear the sale."

Ahhh, very smart.  I tell you what they will work around anything!  I am hoping that has not happened yet. =/

I have removed the "Menu Bar" as well as a lot of access they actually don't need.  But give what I stated above a try.  I was able to manipulate inventory levels but it didn't seem controlled.

I don't think there is a way to track "Printed Receipts" in the Activity Log is there?  I see I can track CLEARED SALES but I wanted to go back and see if there were any printed receipts, then I could check them with the camera system to see if I find something fishy.

222
Ronald, found something.

Here is what I did if you want to try on your end.

1) Create a New Product.  Gave it a price of .01 and a stock of 1.

2) Go to the Sales screen and ring up the product but don't complete the sale.  I went to the Menu Bar and clicked "Print Sale".  I then checked Product Control and my inventory level went to a stock of 2 for some reason.

3) I then tried it again, but this time I clicked the button to change the quantity and put in negative 2.  Then, I printed another receipt without finishing a sale.  I checked product control and the stock went to a qty of 4.  Drawer was never opened, no sale was done.

4) I tried it a 3rd time.  I rang up 1 "test" for a penny and printed the receipt again without finishing the sale.  Even though the qty. was just 1, andt he stock on hand is now 4.  After the ticket printed I checked Product Control and the stock was now at 2!

I am unsure why it is jumping around like that but it is showing the stock can be adjusted without ever finishing the sale or taking money.

Any ideas?

The weird thing is I watched the entire sale on the camera system and I was even going to upload the video so you could watch it.

A customer walked in and picked out a pair. My employee rang them up and the customer stood at the counter for a couple minutes and decided she would think about it since it was a big purchase and that she would be back tomorrow.  My employee then left the sale sitting there on the screen and walked away.  After about 15 minutes she came back to the system and exited out of it so she could ring someone new up.

Also, you stated "One question I have is why was the sale printed before being paid?  that's a red flag for employee theft.  I would hide the menu bar so they can't print a sale first."  Can you explain to me how an employee could possibly steal that way?

Also if you look at my screencap (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i252/business-spice/POS%20System/meclickingCLEARSALE_zps7d73e35a.jpg what part are you calling the "Menu Bar" and how do I go about hiding it?  I take it that is the top bar "File, Products, Sales, etc."

Thanks Ronald, if you can address those questions in RED that would be a huge relief.  Right now I'm kinda getting that queezy feeling that an employee is trying to "do something"

I am linking 2 photos.  1 of me clearing the sale and the other one is that message that I told you I get when trying to clear a sale that has not been finished, but has removed an item from inventory.  I got this exact message the last time a sale was not finished but the item was removed from inventory.  It has been the only time I have gotten this message.

Me clearing sale:

It states "Some Items May Have Printed Already! Clearing This Ticket Will Be Recorded In The Managers Log"

I know that is what is claimed but I am honestly letting you know that it has happened somehow twice with us.  I did an inventory count in the morning (twice with Ray Ban and Oakley) and they were spot on.  We do this every morning and every night.  And then for that 1 pair it dropped to negative 1 although we only had 1 of them to sell.  It has to be some bug/glitch because it does not do it 99% of the time but has definitely done it twice this year.

The proof is in the attached pictures and doing the inventory count, and like I said Product Control (which I only have access to) said -1.  I am unsure how else you can explain that.
