New receipt printer not working

I have been using a laser printer for sometime now after replacing my computer and the new one not having a parallel port.  Just ordered a Star TSP100, after installing it I tried to use it to print a receipt or open the drawer, neither worked.  This printer is connected using via usb.  Any suggestions?

You should be able to print with any printer.  Use the File / Choose Receipt Printer.  This tells the software what print driver to use.  How does your drawer connect to the computer?

I use to use a receipt printer so I understand that.  I did as you pointed out before I posted but it wasn't working.  When I switched back to use the laser printer the laser did print the receipts.  As for the connection with the drawer it is connected as it was with the last printer, using the (phone cord type of plug) between the printer and the drawer.

Any other ideas?

First thing first is to do a test.

does your printer prints the TEST PAGE in properties?

Is your printer Parallel based printer and you are using one of those USB to Parallel Cables?
