ezPower / Checking on current ideas regarding shopify
« on: October 20, 2020, 02:47:32 PM »
Hello Ronald,

If you remember my stores had issues with the recent updates where inventory would be off greatly from one day to the next so we went back to an old version and the issue stopped.  However, we are at the point in growing our company personally that we need to figure out a few things regarding our POS and inventory tracking and wanted to see where you stand and any ideas you have. We have a shopify website which I know you were working on Shopify integration.  Shopify is the third-largest online retailer in the U.S. after Amazon and eBay so they are the platform to focus on. I've been studying what some other POS applications offer and getting your feedback on whether or not you have added any of these in recent updates or possibly are planning to.

1) Our BIGGEST POS issue is the amount of products we have and then the amount of price changes and cost changes we have to make and change for each location.  We were doing the one thing you had where for like $20 a month/year or something we could have a master database and upload from there however it honestly didn't work well for us.  We could only do like 100 products at a time, sometimes we had thousands of changes to do.  Sometimes it would seem to crash, we had issues with it so we stopped using it.  Shopify has a POS app that is kind of amazing where since it is an online platform we log in and from any computer you can add or change product information such as pricing, cost, product pictures, etc and then each location would draw from that online server.  Is there anyway to ever have a Master Database and each location can pull updates from the database without having to do it the way it has been before?  Like I said, for us it would crash or sometimes not download everything.  It just never seemed to work flawlessly so I will spend days at one location making product pricing updates and then have to go to my other store just to redo the exact same changes I just did at the first store.

Do they make receipt printers like the Bixolon SRP350 plus that I bought from you originally that are wireless?  I was almost hoping being able to somehow print to a Bixolon SRP that I already have.  I think I own 4 of them now and have one not being used at all, but was unsure how I can get a tablet to print to a Bixolon receipt printer (so I don't have to buy a new receipt printer).

So, in the last part of my question I was wondering since I have a 2 computer package will I need to upgrade my package because I soon will need 2 computers and 1 tablet to all function together.  So when someone is checked out on the tablet it will remove the inventory stock from the other 2 computers as well.

Hopefully this clarifies, thank you.

Ronald,

Quickly wanted to ask ... I am looking to add a tablet that can be used as a secondary POS for when the line starts to get too long.  No cash, only credit cards.  How can the tablet hook up to a receipt printer like a Bixolon?

And I have purchased a 2 computer POS package ... what do I need to do so I can use my back of house computer, my cash register computer and then a backup tablet just for busy times?

ezPower / Re: Adding Staff/employee name to Z-Out?

For security though we have it so anyone can do a Z-out bc in Winter when business is slow sometimes there is just 1 person closing alone, a standard employee with no manager on duty.  And I was just thinking of user simplicity that it would always be much easier having the staff's name on the Z-Out so that way you don't have to run reports.  I don't look at Z-Outs until I am at home sitting in my office logging daily sales and don't have access to run reports from the POS at the store. Just like how the Staff's Name is on the Receipt, it is much easier to just see their name on the receipt than if you wanted to figure out who did a sale you had to go run a report, especially if you are reviewing things from home.  Was just a suggestion for future updates that a user would possibly want to see.

An added benefit for all in my shoes would be showing who puts in their code to do a Z-Out.  I've had times with cash drops being off or just a math issue and being able to see who put their number in (just like on a sales receipt) would be greatly helpful, also a good security addition because an employee visually seeing their name on the Z-Out slip makes them aware they're being tracked.  Just a recommendation

Tell me about it! ugh, GRRRRRRR!

So at the first store I was able to get them to share and see each other however at my 2nd store I cannot even get the computers to see one another.  It's very frustrating so we have been stuck with using just 1 of our 2 connected systems for sales.  Luckily in the past I've learned to make the regular cash register computer be computer #1 and the one we could live without be #2, so in the times where it can't connect to the Host computer we can still run the program, make sales and have the inventory work right.

So we basically use the main register #1 as our cash register computer and register #2 as our back office computer.  But if you've found any EASY instructions on sharing 2 computers LMK.  Home Group was so easy for me and they made it harder by trying to simplify it.  If I can write code I should be able to share 2 computers, GRRRRRRRR.

It's kinda crazy of me I can use HTML, C++, etc but I've never networked.  They said they have made it easier in the newest release where they took away homegroup however I cannot for the life of me figure out how to see the .ezp folder on the other computer.  Any tips on the steps I need to take to currently share that folder to computer station #2.  As of now, we cannot use POS #2 until we figure out how to see the other computer.  Thanks

Same with us Ronald.  We haven't ever tried to fix it but once we updated to the newest version, the Staff's name does not show up any more like it used to.  It just says "Select Staff" even after we log in it does not change.

25
So with the recent Win 10 upgrade that came out, Windows is getting rid of Homegroup.  So there goes our system link for our 2 systems and the one can no longer find the .EZP folder.  I can't figure out without a hopmegroup how to have the one system now find the .EZP folder, any ideas?

So I am able to get my product updates now. But every time i download the updates it crashes completely. If it doesn't just close it will just sit there not allowing me to do anything till i close it.

So my older updates I sent through came in. I tried to do another round of updates but it's still not seeing them. Am I going to need to reset update history every time?

Yeah, those are the updates I sent but I'm still not receiving the update at that store. I have been checking every half hour or so.  I have tried exit the sales screen, exiting the whole program, trying to check for updates the manager reports menu and the reports menu on the sales screen. I am about to restart the computer to see if that does anything. This computer is plugged directly into the router so there should be no connection issues.
Edit: restart did not help

So I have been trying to send them one or two at a time. There may have been a bunch together when I was sending a specific update I was trying get. This is when i realized i wasn't getting the updates. I tried resending the updates again today. It's only two product updates, though I am still not getting the update on the other computer. Is there anything you see on your end that's stopping me from getting them?

What I am currently seeing on the computer I send the updates with, it will say connecting, connection successful, uploading products, and products uploaded. I go to my computer that is getting updated and see nothing. I have been using reports>remote> check for product updates. When I do this I get a loading wheel for a second.  Also, I only have access to product control one the system I am sending the updates with.
