Just wondering if this is possible and if not something to consider for future versions or updates.  The ability to have your General Manager be able to alter Product info such as Description, price ,etc without access to inventory levels.

It would be great if there was an "Admin Product Control" and a "Manager Product Control".  Manager Product Control would look exactly like the Admin Product Control minus the ability to directly alter inventory levels.  So Managers could change the Category of an item and send it to clearance Category for instance, or adjust prices for price increases from manufacturers and so on.  Have the ability to make changes so the owner doesn't but also not have access to change the inventory levels on a whim with no record.  Just a thought.

ezPower / Sitting on a Gold Mine with WebGen if expanded
« on: March 29, 2016, 10:23:29 AM »
I have searched the internet everywhere for something where I can sell my products online but also track live inventory in a website that is also beautiful.

With so many "build your own website from our template" sites out there it seems as if time was invested to allow users the ability to select a few templates and also change aspects of the design off their site (like Volusion, Shopify, etc) it could change building an online business altogether.  No one is doing this at a reasonable cost.  WebGen is the platform although I'm not sure how many are actually using it but if time was put into refining it with customization options it would be unstoppable.

We are creating an online store through Shopify however live inventory levels are not possible.  You already have all that, you just need the refinement.  I am sure you guys have talked about this numerous times and already know everything I am typing but when I see how big Shopify and Volusion and other storefront template websites are with millions of users I can't help but think if you could offer the same visual appeal and customization but bundle with the "PRO Package" free POS software that tracks inventory live I couldn't imagine anyone not choosing you.

Just figured I'd chime in, like I said I'm sure all well aware of this.  Take care.

My store has 1,000's of sunglasses and for the start of 2016 most companies have done price hikes on existing products.  I only have my 1 POS at my store so having to make these changes there while trying to ring up customers can become a nightmare and literally take me a week or more.  I am hoping to (if it's ok) put the program on my laptop and upload the entire database so I can do this from home so I could work on it all night.

If I go through and make all the price changes I need to the products on my laptop can I then save it and upload it to my POS system without it altering ANY inventory levels?  Just changing the prices?

And also, if during the time I was home changing prices I received a new style at the store and we created a new product for it if I uploaded the new prices to the POS system the next day would it basically erase this newly added product from the database OR simply overwrite just the price changes to the product without affecting anything new added in in the meantime?

Hopefully that was explained clear enough.

I'm also thinking ahead since I am considering opening 2 stores and having a mobile unit I would like the ability to have a master program on my home laptop for price changes, etc and I can update all the POS Systems with the master program but not affect current inventory levels at each store or any inventory that just that 1 store might have that might not be in the Master database at all, and have the upload basically delete that one off product all together.

Thanks

Basically, we may get in 100 new items to check into inventory and some we may even have to create a New Product for and trying to do this while also making sales and trying not to screw up the inventory count can be tough.

Can I have 1 system run a monitor for making sales that an employee can use and a separate monitor a manager can use to scan in daily inventory that arrives.  I know just using a dual monitor cable would affect the mouse/keyboard on the screen so basically I'm looking to have a Network I take it?  Never set one up and I wasn't sure if there's a way I can do it without having to hire someone.  If anyone has any input it'd be greatly appreciated.

EDIT:  So I have been reading the EZPOS Help Doc and see there is info in there about setting up a Network, however can I do that using my retail version of EZPOS.  It sounds like I needed to buy a Network version of POS or am I reading it wrong?  Thank you

ezPower / 1 field possibly missing from Detailed Reports
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:52:11 AM »
Just from using this program now for 3 years there's one field you may want to consider adding under

REPORTS > PRODUCTS > SOLD PRODUCTS DETAIL

and that is the field for "PROFIT."  Nearly every other possible choice is in there and other reports show you your profit for the sale, however this detailed report has everything except it.  And other reports will show you profit but won't show you other important fields such as final selling price.  So, just something to consider is adding Profit to "Sold Products Detail" and that would have literally every important field under one report.  I find myself having to either use a calculator to find profit using that report or going back and forth between 2 reports.

Just an idea for future updates that I am sure other users would also appreciate.

ezPower / Option to make it so a product cannot be returned?
« on: November 16, 2015, 11:01:14 AM »
I am asking this because we sell Gift Certificates and the reason is mostly for employee theft, which always seems to be many retailers biggest headaches.  The way I have done Gift Certificates is I sell them by barcode and we seize them once being used.  If it is allowed to be returned there is a way they can still use it to take product.  Can I make a specific item "unreturnable"?

Thanks.

Something I just realized that I think could be fixed and honestly should be fixed if possible.  Any manager that has the ability to "Add New Product" (but not enough security for Product Control to actually edit current stock quantity) could get in a new shipment, in our case picture a $500 Ferrari Edition Sunglass.  They create a "new product" for it and give it the right price and all the details.  I have them start the STOCK quantity at ZERO so they can "adjust stock" afterwards and then I have a paper trail within the REPORTS that I can print out to compare it to the packing slip and my list of orders.

However, if a manager creates a new product and for stock uses -1 (negative one) they could still go and check in the inventory under "inventory adjust" and have a report showing they actually checked one in inventory.  Then since that $500 pair has a stock now in the system of 0 after they scanned it in (up from -1), they could steal it and the inventory count would still be spot on and there would be a paper trail showing they scanned in the new order properly.  It wouldn't be until someone started asking "hey, where's that new Ferrari frame at?" and then searching the reports to see if it was sold, etc.  The whole time with the inventory count being spot on.  And in our case with thousands upon thousands of sunglasses certain $300 pairs would go unnoticed as long as the inventory count is spot on and they were checked in.

My thoughts should be with "Add New Product" either the inability to go with negative numbers or simply no ability to change STOCK at all.  Any owner would want the product trail of that being left zero and then scanning them in later during "inventory adjust".

ezPower / Any way I can be doing this better?
« on: April 21, 2015, 05:54:37 PM »
So I should have shared this last Summer when it happened but I fired a guy because I found out he took a $260 pair of sunglasses and kept pressing the Military Discount button (10% off) until they were basically free.  Is there an option to only allow a cashier the ability to use something once?  If not, you should highly consider it in an update.  You have all this regulation on who can alter merchandise and you can control the keys so you are the only Admin but at the same time an employee could rob you blind by simply pressing a military discount button 100 times until not only are they free but they actually get money back!  It also makes it senseless to have such high security and check and balances when this can be done so easily.  And I live in the World's largest NAVY base so we have to have this discount.  There must be someone I can protect myself from this.  Any type of "use only time" button?

If not, please consider everything I said.  So much time invested in security and checks and balances but this flaw can get you robbed blind internally unless it's constantly checked.  And with hundreds of transactions daily it's a nightmare to stay on top of it.  Thank you

ezPower / Product Quantity went to -1, is someone stealing?
« on: April 21, 2015, 05:29:59 PM »
So I have an issue that came up.  We do inventory daily and compare the numbers for a Category (ie: Ray Ban) to the physical count.  Upon doing a complete Category print-out to evaluate my current stock levels I notice a particular $200 pair to have a -1 qty.  When I fixed it and made it 0, and then counted my physical inventory now I am short 1 pair.  I have been checking through my records and do not find an issue with the shortage report, returns or stock adjustments.  I am trying to figure out ways through the sales window product could have reached a -1 qty.  No one but myself has access to "Product Edit" in order to physically change quantity without there being a record.

Any ideas on where I can start looking?

Since I am dealing with expensive items (up to $500 each) I don't allow anyone but myself access to Product Control for security/theft reasons.  However, there are times accidents are made when adding a new product and the name may need to be changed.  Or if we are going to discontinue something I add "****" in front of the name so I know on the "Sold Reports" to simply not order it anymore.  Can I allow my manager a way to alter the name of a Product without altering Quantity?

Thank you.

**PS - you guys thought of everything!  Thank you so much for the ability to offer BOGO and the fact it automatically knows to deduct from the lower priced items of the 2.  I'm implementing that feature soon and so glad you guys already thought of it in the software.

ezPower / Something to consider about building a product from parts.
« on: October 22, 2014, 07:11:03 AM »
I love the fact you can build a product from parts however I am noticing one flaw that perhaps may have been overlooked?  Not sure if there is a reason it was done the way you have it now but I will explain.

As example, let's say you build a product called "MACHINE" and it is built from 2 bolts, 2 washers and 1 pipe.  The parts are all inventoried and counted on a daily basis.  Well let's say you want to have this product, called "MACHINE" on the shelf for a customer to buy so you have to go take 2 washers, 2 bolts and 1 pipe from your stock and build it.  Well now when employees go to check the stock of washers, bolts and pipes they are coming up short on their inventory count (because they are currently being used to create the machine product).  I see when it sells the individual parts are now removed from inventory however if you are using the parts to sell separately as well as parts of something bigger than inventory count will be off.  It may look like you have 20 bolts and 20 washers to sell to customers but when you check the box it's empty because you have 10 MACHINE products sitting on the shelf.

Here's just my 2 cents and perhaps there is a reason why it is not done like this.  Let's say you build that machine product from those parts listed but you have not added any machines yet to inventory, so therefore it doesn't affect your actual inventory count of loose bolts, washers and pipes.  As soon as you ADD 1 Machine Product to inventory then it should deduct the parts from inventory right then and there, because they are being used to create the larger product.  Therefore individual inventory count of the parts (that are also being sold to customers) is not off.

Any input on this?

ezPower / Is there a better way of adding new products for non Admins?
« on: August 26, 2014, 05:49:53 AM »
When I am unavailable to add new products via Product Control my manager adds them with "F5 Quick Add" but after she creates a new product it adds it to the POS as if she is selling it.  It is not a big hassle for her just to Clear the Sale each time but is there a better way for her to be adding brand new products to our database (without giving her access to Product Control) but without adding it to the cart each time?  Thank you for your help.

I have another issue that has arose and not sure if you may have an idea why it is happening.

My manager has checked in inventory on 8/15/14 and I am holding the printed off report in my hand for Inventory Adjust and it has that date on it.  I now want to go back and make sure something else was checked into inventory later in the day (after she already printed off the report I am holding).  When I go to reports and select Inventory>Adjust and select the correct date and hit OK it comes up with nothing.  So I also tried a wider range selecting the day before til the day after (8/14 - 8/16) and it still is coming up with 0.00.  I know things were added to inventory that day (8/15) as I have the report in my hand however nothing is coming up.  Any idea on why that is or what I could try to do to retrieve that information?  Thank you

EDIT:  Another thing that happened is it has decided to take all past inventory "Shortage" and move it all to the date 8/18/14.  So products that I have used the Inventory Shortage button to remove from inventory over the past year and a half have all moved to 8/18/14.  When I run a report for that specific date it is filled with hundreds of "shortage" products.  Any reason why it did that that you can think of?  Thank you

So, as a sunglass store I have categories such as Oakley, Ray Ban, Maui Jim, etc.  Nearly all of these companies have contests.  So for instance, lets say Oakley has a contest that if you sell 50 Oakleys between June 1st - July 1st then they give you $100.  Every employee logs into the POS for their sales in order to earn commission.  So my question is if I want to see how many Oakleys my employee Jessica has sold between June 1st - July 1st is there a report that would show me this best?  I know I can go into Sales Control and see the past sales for a certain date period but I have to open up every single sale to see who sold what.  And I know I can check under reports (like for commission)  STAFF > PRODUCT for the particular dates but that does not show me quantity sold for each item.  So if my employee sold 3 Oakley straight jackets it just says Straight Jacket and has a total price of $375.  I need to manually break down the $375 to realize she sold 3 of them at $125 each.  Is there any way best for just showing individual number of units sold within a category?  Thanks

ezPower / Deleting Product, does it change reports?
« on: May 20, 2014, 05:10:18 PM »
So let's say I go to Product Control and delete a product that (as an example) was sold last year on May 1st, 2013 for $100.  The product has been discontinued this year so I delete it from the database (deleting helps keep the inventory reports to a minimum when printed daily).

Last year on May 1st (2013) I theoretically do $1,000 in sales.

Now that I have deleted this Product that was sold last year on May 1st, does it alter the total sales when searching using "reports"?  So if I delete the $100 item that sold last May 1st and run a report of total sales that day will it still remain at the true $1,000? or will it now give me a total sales for that day of $900?

Just curious whether it pulls the sales from items sold that day or if it goes off of Z-Reports. Thank you.

(I tend to over-explain my question to a point of simplicity ... sorry)  ;)
