ezPower / Something to consider with Stock Correction and Reporting.
« on: March 10, 2017, 01:36:22 PM »
It appears that in doing a stock correction it is nice that if a product has it's stock changed from 2 to 1 that it shows up on the Shortage Record Report.

However, if product is altered to have stock go from 2 up to 5 let's say there is no tracking of that and perhaps that as well should show up in Adjust records reporting.

An even better option is to have ANY adjustment that is done via Stock Correction to have a separate report for Stock Corrections records.

Here's the reason.  In a retail environment where tracking inventory is critical.  A manager can use this feature for Stock Correction to take a product where the system says we have 1 blue hammer when we have 2 blue hammers on hand, and the system says we have 2 red hammer when in fact we only have 1 red hammer on hand.  SO in the end, the physical stock for ALL hammers is correct, at 3 hammers.  But the skus have been mixed up either during a sale or when tagging the hammers and now we need to fix it so it doesn't skew our reordering.

So a manager fixes it via Stock Correction and then should be able to print 1 piece of paper that shows 1 blue hammer was added to the system and at the same time 1 red hammer was removed from the system.  Every month I review shortage records to see why something was shortaged.  In the case of a correction it would be nice to see something was shortaged but the similar thing was added, so they balance each other out.

Hopefully that makes sense and just perhaps something to consider for future updates.  CHEERS!

ezPower / Can't figure out Manager > Products > Category > BOGO Deal
« on: March 07, 2017, 08:23:11 PM »
So in the Manager Window under Products > Category the BOGO deal was added in V13 and we want to implement it but no matter the value I input for a category it is not changing the price during the sale at all.

I ring up 2 (or more) products within that category and the price stays the same.

What am I missing?

As title explains my employees have been checking in shipments arriving and normally I review them and match up through the Inventory > Adjust report they print that they checked in 20 products and that 20 products are on the vendors shipping label.  I went to check last night and every report I could find has zero for inventory as well as cost.  I'll attach a link to dropbox pictures

ezPower / Setting Tax Level to 1 for Quick Add
« on: January 25, 2017, 10:53:53 AM »
So before I updated I know when we opened Quick Add the Tax was always defaulted to Level 1 which was 6%, but now when we open Quick Edit the tax is default set to Level 0 and we have to remember to set it to Tax Level 1 when inputting new product.

How do we get that back where it defaults to Tax Level 1?  thank you

ezPower / Found a flaw in "Discount Level" (V14)
« on: January 09, 2017, 12:55:15 PM »
So when using the (entire sale) Discount you can set the value of the 2 discounts by going to the Manager Control > Sales > Discount Level.

So let's say I make Discount 1, 10% OFF for a military discount.  In order for an employee to even be able to select using this discount the Security Setting needs to be at the standard employee level (3-Cashier).  So if we set "Price Changes" to Security lvl 3 - Cashier then they can now select military discount when ringing up a sale.  The flaw is they can also now double-click the word "Discount" in the sales window and up pops a table allowing them to alter the pre-set 10% off discount to anything ... even 100% off.

So an employee should be allowed to select a predetermined discount management approves of but not have the security clearance to make a $500 item have a zero value either.

Ways to fix it:

1) Remove all 4 of the Discount Buttons (2 for individual products and 2 for overall sale) ability to pop up that window that allows the percentage to be altered.

2) Give it a different security setting than "Price Changes".  Perhaps if a Security Setting for "Allow Discounts" was assigned to those 4 predetermined buttons.  So Security for "Allow Discounts" can be lvl 3 but "Price Changes" can be level 4 or 5.

I LOVE the Discount feature in V14 because the discounts are no longer "Products" where you can stack the quantity.  However without fixing this it does no good because they can make it whatever percentage off they want.  Now I am scared to even have these buttons used in my system at all.

ezPower / What is "Discount Group" in Product Edit?
« on: January 09, 2017, 10:07:07 AM »
Looking in Product Edit there is a field for "Data" called "Discount Group" directly under Category.  Mine was blank so I created a *NEW* Discount Group however I do not see anywhere where a Discount Group can be edited or what it even means.

Thanks for any insight.

EDIT: I searched both the forum and the HELP document but neither mention it.

ezPower / So what is this box in "Add New Product"?
« on: January 07, 2017, 10:28:01 AM »
Attached is a picture of the box in question and is it possible to have that be a spot where a manager could add the picture of the product? My Staff only ever uses this screen for creating new products since the other options would offer them too much permissions to affect inventory.

ezPower / Possible to export customer list by CSV?
« on: December 16, 2016, 03:36:22 PM »
As the title states, I am using Shopify to build an online website to better help our brick and mortar store.  We would like to be able to collect customer information at our store and upload it via CSV into our website.  Does v14 currently allow the option to export customer list by CSV?

ezPower / Tracking items sold at too high of a discount
« on: September 12, 2016, 09:59:49 AM »
I remember reading somewhere on the forum there was a way that the POS can let you know when an item has been overly discounted.  However, I am unsure how to do that and if you can set parameters, such as "notify me if a product is sold below 20% off".  I can see by using reports the list price, discount and sold price but if I sell 20 of that item then if only one was overly discounted but the rest were all sold at full price it is very hard to figure out that 1 of the pairs was grossly over discounted, perhaps even for less than cost.

ezPower / Possible for more discounts than just the 2?
« on: September 12, 2016, 08:10:26 AM »
Ronald,

I absolutely love the new (v14) discount option so that way a 10% OFF discount cannot be stacked (like in v13) to get a $300 product down to free or close to it.  However, there are only 2 correct?  Discount 1 and Discount 2.  Is it possible to add a few more in your next update?  We offer 10% off military discount as well as 20% off as our max discount.  Sometimes to close a sale our 3rd way to discount is we pay their sales tax.  But I've realized over the years when selecting "TAX FREE" this greatly skews our reports because the sale really isn't tax free, we are just paying their tax but the POS of course believes it is a tax free sale.  Instead we need more discount buttons to have a discount at the same rate as our tax rate, 6%.  I'm afraid of doing it the old way because I have had an issue in the past with an employee just hitting the button 20 times to make a product nearly free.

I believe many users would take advantage of the more discounts feature, for instance for employee discounts, paying someones tax for them to get a sale, and various percentage levels off.

Can you think of any other way to do TAX FREE without hitting the "TAX FREE" button (it skews sales reports) since I am using both discount buttons?

So for years this has been something I've struggled with and possibly something to consider for a future update.

I have 1,000's of products, some have 0 stock either from being discontinued or waiting for shipments to arrive.  Occasionally we want to print out the inventory on hand for a specific Category to review it.

We know we can go to Find Product or even Product Control to get a list for a specific CATEGORY however when you print it you can't adjust or hide columns like you can with reports, so many times the important info in the description gets cut off.

If we go to Reports and print an Inventory list we can get a full list of everything but we will waste 25 pages of paper getting Categories we do not even want.

If there was a Report (sop you could adjust the column widths for printing) where you could show "In Stock" products listed by category then someone could see all of their stock on hand for a particular category.   We need to do this often and I am sure others must as well to review their current inventory when awaiting new releases, etc.

Just an idea for the future

ezPower / V14 - Product > Quick Edit ..... Security Settings?
« on: May 10, 2016, 07:54:34 AM »
So I noticed Product > Quick Edit from the Sales Screen looks new however it seems to be piggybacking the Security features of Inventory Adjust.  Is there a way to make the Quick Edit have higher Security Settings?

I say this because from a retail standpoint I can allow a shift supervisor the access via Inventory Adjust Security Settings to "Adjust Stock" and therefore check in brand new inventory and not give them access to pricing, etc.  So now, myself, my managers and even a shift leader can check in inventory but not the employees.  But now my shift leader is able to use "Quick Edit" and make a $400 item have a price of $0.00.

Am I missing a Security Setting to fix this or is there a way to add it as a separate Security Setting so it does not piggyback off Inventory Adjust?

So for years I've used "Quick Add" so my manager can add new inventory into the system when I am not there.  However sometimes there needs to be additional information put in that is not available through Quick Add, like selecting something as a Service for instance.  I know this is available through "Create a New Product" with all the details I could ever hope for however if I want my Manager to use that feature the only way I can find for her to access it is through Product Control, which she could know theoretically mess with inventory numbers.  Is there a particular reason "Quick Add" is the only option for the toolbar and there is not a "New Product" button I could allow her access to so she could create a new product and fully set reorder points, call it a service, etc?

Basically to have Quick Add be an option like it is now but then also "New Product" button that is more advanced.  In Security you can set "Quick Add" permissions for perhaps a level 4 Security while "New Product" would be Security Level 5.

I am using V14 Network Edition on Windows 10 and initially I had the program installed in a breeze and up and running.  I decided to make some changes to my Network and that messed EVERYTHING UP!  (As Ronald knows).

If on the Register Station of the Network (Not the Host Computer) it goes right to "Error 5: Unable to save header information" followed by another pop-up box about "Generic Exception" and then it will redirect you to your DR14 folder on your own computer with a file called "LocalFileNames.plf".  Delete that file and then it will let you restart the process over again for selecting register #2 and then locating the "ezp" folder from the Network Host Computer.

Basically it came down to the ezp folder being in the Public Documents under the C Drive and I had issues with sharing those folders within the C Drive correctly.  So instead of clicking the folders and trying to adjust the sharing permissions here is what you do if it gets you stuck like it did me.

Go to your search box and search for "Computer Management"

In the new pop-up box double click "System Tools"

Next, double click "Shared Folders" and then "Shares"

In the empty pane right click (not on any file) and click "New Share."  This will be a Wizard to help you set up file sharing for the file you need.  Hit "Next" and then "Browse" for the ezp folder under C Drive > Users > Public > Public Documents > DR14 > ezp and that's it.  Now it is shared.

You will probably have to go to the Register #2 now and do what I recommended above to correctly find the file.  (I'll copy and paste it again in the next post - reached the 2,000 character limit RONALD!)
