ezPower / Credit Card Service Charge
« on: June 07, 2022, 06:27:27 AM »
A charge can now be added to a sale to offset the credit card service charge.  The charge may be taxed (optional).  This update is for version 14.  Send support an email to see if you are eligible.  Older versions may require an update and small charge.  Here is how to set it up after you get the update:

1 – create a Fee% product.  Put the %amount (10) in the Price field. Here are the suggested settings in red:
(see pic1 attached)

2 – change Charge to Service Charge (or something).
(see pic2 attached)

3 - Settings / Payment Methods, select the Service Fee% product.

ezPower / Installing Problems
« on: June 07, 2021, 05:36:09 AM »
I've run into Windows 10 blocking apps from being installed.  This is what helped me.  Open:
the Settings windows and search for "Reputation-based protection".

Here is the full path "Settings / Update & Security / Windows Security / App & Browser Control / Reputation-based protection".

I turned off these and was then able to download and install apps.  After installing I turned them them back on.  I've attached a screen shot of the window.

ezPower / A Report you should know about
« on: March 05, 2020, 06:16:41 AM »
I've found most users don't know about a report that shows sales that have been left open, incomplete or with some problem.  Open the Reports window and it's at the menu Sales / Incomplete Sales (or Incomplete Tickets).  Sales that have been left 'dangling' can actually slow down your system over time.  Try out this report.  It's not new, June of 2017.  If the report list problems, there is a new function in the Tools / Optimize and Fix (Jan 2020).  This will list the problems and give you options to fix them.  Give it a try.  And always do backups which are now automatic (Jan 2020).

You can track your pours now with version 14 and BarVision and others that support the S3 file format.
Just run the z-out with the option “Details”.  Print the z-out.  The file will be created as S3.txt.  It’s a tab delimited text file.  To find the file, close the sales window.  Click on Help.  Click on Database.  This is where it will always be created as S3.txt.

ezPower / Windows Updates / Network Setup
« on: May 17, 2018, 12:15:46 PM »
A common problem lately is Microsoft is changing the sharing settings with the updates.  This can effect your terminals from connecting to the host computer.  Which can also effect credit card processing on the terminals.

Credit Card Processing
If you are processing credit cards using ChargeItPro and have a network then you must also share the CIP folder just like the ezp folder.  The CIP folder is next to the ezp folder inside the DR14 folder.

Run the software on the server and press the Help button. Press the Database button.
A window will open. This is database location.
Right click on the “ezp” folder and select “Properties”. Click on Sharing.
Click on Advanced Sharing button.
Check Share this folder box.
Click on Permissions. Select Everyone and check Allow: Full control. – OK

Also, you may need to check your Network Status.  Open the windows Settings. Click on Network and Internet.  Click on Status (left side). Click on Change Connection Properties. Assuming you are on your own private network, select Private.

The file sharing may need to be turned on.  Here are some examples.

Windows 7: Open any folder and expose the Navigation Panel.  Open the Libraries / Documents.  You will see the DR14 folder here.

Windows 8: C:\Users\Public\Documents\DR14.

Right click on the “ezp” folder and select “Sharing and Security”.  Check the box “Share this folder on the network”.  Check the box “Allow network users to change my files”.

ezPower / Cloud / Remote Services
« on: March 24, 2017, 05:10:57 AM »
The Cloud services allow you to view reports online anywhere.  And update products from your home office or head office computer.  A new feature allows you to view your sales from the internet. Using your smart phone or computer you can view your sales from any browser.

Setup at the Store:
Open the Product Control window and use the functions under the Remote menu.

Open the Remote / Remote Report Options.
In this window you give each one of your stores a number and a name.
The options you have are for the stores to look for Product Updates and/or Send Reports.
Get Product Updates: select how often the store will check for updates.  Product updates are sent by the head office and each store will check for these updates.
Send Reports: select which reports the store will send and how often.
Report Webpages: select this option to have your reports available for viewing by a web browser.  The button Get Address will give you the web address to view your reports.  You can view the reports on your computer, smart phone, etc.

The next step is to select the time frame the reports will be sent and the days of the week.
The last step at the store is to use the button Register.  This will let you know if your store computer has access to our servers.
There is the option to manually send reports and check for updates under the Remote menu.

Limits: Only the Head/Main Office should send new inventory updates.  There is a queue waiting limit of 16 update files.  So, make sure the stores are set to get the updates frequently enough.
