ezPower / Re: Z-out on new register hangs ezPower
« on: April 29, 2020, 09:13:06 PM »
Hi Ronald
Just an update on this issue. I noticed that Z-out was actually moving data(from Ethernet status) so I asked that the customer run it at the end of the day to see if it finishes by morning and sure enough, it completed in about 1 hr. Afterwards it runs normally and quickly every time so issue appears to be resolved. Not sure why but I'm guessing it has something to do with replacing the till and then allowing the system to do one complete z-out to clean things up?? I have no idea but its working now. Thanks for all your help on this.
John

Okay, please do. Can't hurt to give it a try just on the Win 7 register. If it doesn't work then I might consider downgrading the new one to XP or upgrading the old ones to Win 7

OK....is there a 13.8 that resolves the z-out issue on Windows 7?

Thanks Ronald
I checked the server and both registers and they are all at 13.583. Is there a new version you can send or should I just go to 14. The customer name is Sunnyside Supermarket in Celista, BC

Thanks Ronald
I have double checked access privileges and all looks fine there. I found a post from 2014 that talks about ezPower ver 13.8xx that addresses z-out crashes on Windows 7. How can I check the version number on this register?

ezPower / Z-out on new register hangs ezPower
« on: April 15, 2020, 01:20:12 PM »
Hi Ronald
I just replaced a broken register with a new one and assigned the same register number as the one it replaced. I installed ezPower(V13) using the install exec I received originally. All seems fine until I try to Z-out this new till. When I do, the ezPower program stops responding on all other registers and the only way to get them back is to reboot all registers(the server appears to be fine). The main difference with this new register is that it is running Windows 7 where all others(including the server) are running XP. I've searched thru this forum for possible causes with no luck. I have double checked firewalls, sharing parameters etc and everything looks fine. I have reset Z-out to the current date. The register works perfectly fine until I hit Z-out then everything just stops. Any ideas?

Hi Ronald
I've now completed all of the things your suggested and cleared all of the open records(except for the record numbers showing as 00000). The server has had a SSD drive in it for some time. There is no router in the network but instead have a 1GB switch and all devices are operating at 1GB. The firewall is configured to allow EZpower traffic but it still takes forever to generate a report(even a small one). Any other ideas drastic or otherwise?

Hi Ronald
Thanks for the tips. I have been going through open records and clearing/voiding them but found some weird ones. They are all record number 00000 and showing under register 0(which they don't have) and the year is 1899. I've attached a picture. Any idea what these are and how to get rid of them?

Thanks Ronald
There are many open records(about 100) so would like to be able to remove them in bulk. Does ver 14 have that ability? If so, is there a way to get rid of them without affecting inventory? I tried manually voiding a few from the Sales screen and found that it re-adds the inventory that was sold on the original record which means I have to go in and adjust the inventory back to the correct amount. A lot of work for 100 records so I just want the records gone. Is that possible with version 14? If so, I will order it immediately.

Thanks Ronald...I've gone through the items on this list and everything checks out up to step 4. Clicking on Clean identified a bunch of open records from years ago but there doesn't appear to be any way to deal with them from the tool and I couldn't find any info about this tool in the manual. Am I missing something? I ended up using Sales Control to list and print them all so I have all of the record numbers, dates, amounts and till numbers for them but can't figure out how to get rid of them. I tried opening a few on a Sales terminal and they do open, but the Void Sale button is greyed out. What would be the best method to get rid of them all?

ezPower / Database Maintenance

Hello Ronald...I have a customer who has been using EZpower for 10 years(currently at V13). When they try to pull a report, say for example, sales of a product over the last month, it literally takes forever to produce the report and slows down the tills. I'm thinking this is a result of the size of the database but am unsure. They have never cleared or exported sales over that that 10 year period. I've read in the forum about exporting sales but mainly with reference to version upgrades. Is there any recommended database maintenance that can help to alleviate their problem?

ezPower / Default Markup %
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:12:12 PM »
Hello...in the Help documentation it says that you can set a default markup% for a Category. It doesn't however explain how to do that and I've looked at every setting I can find. Can you tell me how that is done?
thanks

ezPower / Adding products to inventory
« on: May 20, 2013, 07:04:32 AM »
Hello, we are relatively new users running EZpower Ver 13(retail) on a server with 2 networked tills. Can you provide the proper method for adding products on the live system? The specific questions we have are as follows:
1) Should we only add new products to the server or can they be added at any till?
2) Should we avoid adding products when the system is in use?
3) Should we be using the product control function to add products or 'quick add' from the sales screen?
4) Should we restart the till after adding products to the database?
Any info you can provide on this topic is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

ezPower / Re: Taxes Included
« on: March 12, 2013, 11:06:46 AM »
Thank you for the reply Ronald. Surprising that this has not come up before. Maybe you could consider adding an option in the product edit page to allow for this in future releases? Just a thought.
In the meantime, I think I found a way to solve the problem. I simply created a modifier with no price but with a description of ' Taxes are included in the price of this product' . This prints on the receipt and should suffice. Thanks, John

ezPower / Taxes Included
« on: March 11, 2013, 07:52:40 PM »
Hi...in our store we sell liquor with tax included which is common practice in the province of BC, Canada. However, on the receipt we are required to show which taxes are included and at what percentage. There is an option in the tax and precison settings to set 'tax included' which does the trick but unfortunatley, that setting appies to all items in our product list and we don't just sell liquor. Everything else in the store is 'tax added' . Is there a way to show that tax is included on some items(i.e Liquor) and not all items? Alternatively, if I could simply add a statement to the liquor receipts, that would be fine as well but I can't see a way to do that. Can you help?
