Thanks for the additional information. The DT-100U USB works as a virtual Com Port via USB. One issue I came across in the past day is the preset com port in Windows Device Manager had changed itself from Com Port 6 to 1. It seems to work reliably with sales, and I will check if I am still getting  com port error with a Z-Out.

I will research further with the second till early next week and advise...

Thanks Ronaldrwl,

I was using the same  DT-100U USB device on both PCs as a test and with two separate cash drawers, but with the comm port number set appropriately on each PC. As an aside, with this device, do I still need to use the serialsend applet, or is the device itself generating the code pulse? I presume it is the later?????

I upgraded to the Server version on the 16th of February this year - Transaction ID 06J498726E797993C.

(EDIT:- I have two Ez Powers in my name. One SINGLE for the Golf Club. One SERVER for the Yacht Club ;-)

I have recently bought a new cash drawer as our old one had died (along with its opener) some time ago before we changed to the Server version, but I didn't setup specifically a drawer when I upgraded to the Server version.

I have a strange problem, in that I get two different actions between the Server and the Slave when I connect the same drawer to one or the other. I am using a DT-100U USB device to open the drawer.

On the Server, the drawer opens nicely when pressing the "Drawer Open" icon, but when I do a Z-Out, I get a comm port error.

Conversely, on the Slave, the drawer doesn't open with the "Drawer Open" icon, but does when I open the Z-Out dialogue.

I have checked the settings of both computers, but I can't for the life of me find why this is happening, as the settings seem identical.

Obviously, I have missed something. Any ideas?

Many thanks

ezPower / Re: Networked Version:- Some wins - some losses...

Thanks for the prompt reply as always. I must apologise. I must have been looking at the old manual, as indeed there is a reference to Windows 10 in the Networked version's Help. I had copied across the original DR14 folder which of course overwrote the newer Manual version. Sorry. I have slapped myself firmly ;-)

Windows 10 seems to work in mysterious ways, and certainly in my case, the only way I could see the Master Shared folder in the Slave when looking for it when starting the Slave in Ez Power was to map the Master Drive on the Slave. But mapping did resolve the issue for me.

Concerning the Sales Screen, is there a config file that could be copied across to the slave to simplify the setting up a slave without effecting anything else?

Many thanks

ezPower / Networked Version:- Some wins - some losses...
« on: February 22, 2021, 01:34:46 AM »
I have recently upgraded to the networked version, and I had some real problems getting the slave to see the Server DR14 folder share. Windows 10 makes it really hard, and the section on Networking in the Ez Power manual is probably a decade or more out of date!

I couldn't get the Slave version to pick up the share from the Master (sharing that was straightforward), so after many hours of frustration, I did this:-
  • I went to "My PC" Explorer on the Slave and added a "Network Location" to point to \\MasterPc\Documents. However, that pointer didn't appear in the "My PC" listing of the dialogue box to point the Slave to the Master when starting the Slave for the first time, which was most unexpected. Of course the Master didn't show up on the Network section of Explorer either.
  • So, after some hours, I finally tried MAPPING the added Network Location to Z: Drive
  • At LONG last, I could finally see that drive Z: in "My PC" when I started Ez Power on the Slave and I was able navigate to the EZP folder on the Master via the Slave Z: Drive!
.
While on the subject of setting up a Networked version:-
  • Is there any elegant way to synchronise the pics folders across Master and Slaves. It seems a pain to have to manually copy the folder across every time a small change is made.
  • Similarly, what is the best way to make the "look and feel" of the Slave match that of the Master. I'm thinking particularly of the Sales Screen Button layout etc, but no doubt there are other settings that need to be mirrored in some way.

Many thanks

ezPower / Product Image Size
« on: November 07, 2020, 03:31:07 PM »
I installed EZ-Power for two of our local sporting clubs some years ago, and I recently noticed that one was very fast when switching between Categories, and the other took a relatively long time to refresh the screen when changing between categories, even though the Computer's specifications were the same. Even on a high performance PC, the screen updates were unacceptably low on the second installation.

The slower of the two had 137 Product images, and some of them were around 400kb in size.

As a test, I bulk downsized the images to a height of 250 pixels (15-64kb) with Corel Paintshop Pro, and suddenly my screen updates when changing Categories was nice and fast again. The image resolution was still more than adequate.

I hope this tip may be of benefit to others....

ezPower / Connect EFTPOS to EZ-Power?
« on: October 25, 2020, 05:02:21 PM »
Our Yacht Club really needs to connect our ANZ (Australia) EFTPOS machine to Ez-Power. I have been looking at this for a number of years, but it is now really pressing.

Other topics have mentioned SMARTPAY, but they say our turnover is too low for them to be interested.

Is it possible to connect an EFTPOS machine to EZ-Power just to send the amount of the sale to the EFTPOS machine?

It looks like we might need to find another POS program if we can't get this ?simple? process to work.

Cheers

ezPower / EFTPOS via Bluetooth
« on: June 30, 2018, 03:39:58 PM »
Hi Ronald,

Back in March 2016 I queried the availability of EFTPOS via Bluetooth. I am looking at using EzPower (Restaurant Australian version) for our local Golf Club where this feature could critical.

Has there been any progress on implementing this?

Cheers

ezPower / EFTPOS Integration?
« on: October 30, 2016, 09:02:55 PM »
Hi Ronald,

I was wondering how the EFTPOS Integration was coming along for the Australian Restaurant version? (Previous raised back in May 2016)

It is becoming a really pressing need for our organisation.....

Many thanks

I would REALLY like to interface a Bluetooth EFTPOS machine in Australia too.

We run the Restaurant version, and I was just going to email you to confirm that EFTPOS machine would connect - I sort of presumed it would, but I couldn't find any reference to it in the setup or forum.

I have an IT background, and I would certainly like to help getting this up and running ASAP in OZ.

ezPower / Re: Sales or Customer report to shows Store Notes?
« on: May 31, 2015, 08:27:51 PM »
Thank you - that works well with the Customer Product Report.

I doubt it, but is there any way of forcing a prompt for a waiter JUST for a particular Customer?

Many thanks for the very quick replies too. It is much appreciated.

Cheers

ezPower / Sales or Customer report to shows Store Notes?
« on: May 30, 2015, 10:58:35 PM »
I would like to set up a customer for "Hospitality" so we can dispense free item to the occasional volunteer at our Yacht Club.

Currently I have set up a Customer named "Hospitality" and with the FREE option selected.

What I want to be able to do is to make a Note on the Sale which would indicate the "authorising person"

I can manage this via the Sale Information Store Notes, but I can't find a report which generates this information. The data is in the Sales Export list, but I can't find a report that shows it.

Is there a way to accomplish what I am trying to do - perhaps in another way?

Many thanks

ezPower / "Lost" Suspend Button
« on: May 30, 2015, 10:35:39 PM »
I deselected the SUSPEND button from the Tools/Arrange Function Buttons menu, and now I can't find the icon in the range of choices.

Is there any way to recover the Suspend Icon?

Many thanks
