ezPower / Inventory Accuracy
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:46:54 AM »
We have had problems with inventory accuracy:  fewer items on the shelf than the records indicate.

It has now been ascertained that the quantities are not being decremented when a sale is closed out with the "SNAP" method of payment.  This payment method is enabled on the ManagerControl\Settings\PaymentMethods window and is immediatly under the "Cheque" method.  I believe that it was originally "Food Stamps"...  I changed the terminology to conform with the SNAP program.

The register is running V13.701

So, what can I do to get SNAP sales to decrement the counts properly?

Again, Thanks for the help,
Lee

Okay, so say that I want to receive into stock 10 of an item whose cost has changed.
Do I first go into Manager Control\Products\ProductControl and change the price in the record then use ManagerControl\Products\AdjustStock to update the quantities?  Or can one change the quantity field in the record when updating the new cost?

ezPower POS is present on the list of programs to be allowed through the firewall on all the computers involved.

Must be something else.

After having put this on the back burner for a while I am re-visiting my attempt to run ezPower13 on my office machine.
The machine is running Vista.  The server is running Win7.
I have updated the file c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts so that the IP address are correct.
I delete the c:\Users\Public\Public Documents\DR13\LocalFileNames file.
I launch ezPower POS13 and am prompted for a Register#, which I enter as "5" which is not being used.
After a few seconds with a "Progress" window displayed I receive the ezPower Main menu window with that "Generic Exception window on top of it again!

Now, the first time I tried to launch the program this morning the software actually prompted me for the path to the database!  The problem was that the computer which hosts the files, the actual register, was not listed so I could not select it.  The full map in the Network and Sharing center displays the computer and verifies the address, which I manually updated in the "hosts" file.

So, if anyone has an observation that can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Lee

Hello again,

Which drivers are needed in Windows 7 to get the Bematech cash drawer (connected to a Bematech printer) to open with the "Open Cash Drawer" command in POS13?

Thanks, Lee

The password requirement has no effect.

However, I have just restored access from that client, my stockroom computer can, once again, access the server.

First:  I uninstalled the ezPower POS 13 software.

Second:  I went to C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\ and DELETED the DR13 folder.  This folder contained a single file "LocalFileNames.PLF" which, it appears, was neither being removed during the UN-installation process nor being overwritten when POS 13 was re-installed.

Third:  I ran the installation program that I originally downloaded.  At this point the application prompted me for the location of the ezp folder instead of simply shutting down.  Once I pointed the software to the ezp folder on the server the program launched normally.

So, one problem resolved, two to go.

I have found that the most recent Windows update was preformed at 3:30 the morning of the day this new problem arose.  The client computer had access to the server after that event so I fail to see how the update could have caused the problem.

I have gone to "control panel/security/allow a program through firewall" and verified that POS13 is on the list.
I have gone to the "Network and Sharing center/Advanced Sharing Options" and checked those settings, they appear to be correct.
I have removed and re-installed the POS13 software.

I cannot seem to find the problem on this machine.  I DO have access from a different client but have yet to identify any difference in settings.
Everything on my network functions properly except for POS13.

I was using POS10.  That server was running WinXP and I wanted to upgrade the hardware, the OS, and upgrade to POS13.  I had been using Win7 and Vista machines as clients to maintain the database with no problems (other than the initial setup bugs).

Today, being the first day of having moved all the data files to POS13, I had POS13 actively running on the server.  My "House" machine appears to be working with full access.  The POS13 software on the "Stockroom" machine was crashing with a "Generic Error" until I logged on with a freshly created user account (administrative) and POS13 suddenly loads and works.  I shall look into the differences between the user accounts to see if the problem still exists in the original account or if I can ascertain the difference in settings.

On the "Office" machine I am still getting the "Generic Error" despite running as a new user.  It is also the only machine running Vista instead of Win7.

I'm having this problem now.

"That sounds like a common issue when Windows 7 is the server.  Make sure software on the registers have full read/write access to the ezp folder on the server."   Where does one do this?  On the server, the client, or both?  In the network and sharing center?  A sub-menu of the control panel?   Certainly SOMEONE has resolved this problem.  I would really prefer to find the solutions posted in the forum rather than to have to bother Ronald with constant e-mails.

ezPower / Re: Dead MSR in need of replacement

Thanks, Ronald.

When I unplugged the USB cable for the MSR I did not hear the audible tones I normally hear when disconnecting a "hot" device, so I plugged it back in... and I DID hear the tones associated with the CONNECTION of a device.  The MSR now works again.

A lesson to all:  rebooting will not resolve a connection problem that requires a disconnection/reconnection of the devices USB cable.

I forgot to mention that I did try cleaning the read head.

Lacking a proper "kit" I folded a paper plate in half and doused it with isopropyl.  I applied a swiping action perpendicular to the card-swipe direction - parallel to the gap in the read head.

It didn't appear to help.

Perhaps a software re-installation?

If it has, in fact, died - I'll take two.  A replacement and a back-up.

Thanks again.

ezPower / Dead MSR in need of replacement

Well, my Bematech MSR appears to have died.  It beeps but imports no data.  I tried re-booting the system but that did not help.  I have scanned the data from a card into Notepad before but that doesn't work either.  I am in the market for a replacement.

In another thread I read "It must read both tracks 1 & 2 (not 3) to be used."

Is this still the case?

Thanks Ronald,
Lee

ezPower / Re: Case definition causes odd behavior
« on: August 16, 2011, 07:42:01 AM »
That's odd.  When I open the "Build from Parts" window the "Calculate total price from parts" option is checked, but the option is not available for modification unless I choose the "Parts list or Bulk Definition".  Having done that, deselecting "Calculate total price from parts", and then re-selecting "Case Definition" cured the pricing anomaly.  I had presumed, as the option was not available with "Case Definition" selected, that it wasn't used in that mode.

Thank you.

New screen shot sent.  You can see, in the lower image, what happens to the price and cost.

I tried the "bulk definition" to see what would happen.  In the "Build from Parts" window of Pepsi - Single the Qty was changed from 36 to .028 and the definition was changed from "Case" to "Parts list or bulk".  With four singles in stock I sold 5 singles.  The qty field in the Pepsi - Sinlge remained at 4 but the qty field in the Pepsi - Case dropped from 5 to 4.86.

I appear to have the choice between either the quantities or the prices functioning properly.
