« on: November 19, 2014, 10:41:40 AM »
Why does the Change All funtion create duplicate products? I would expect it to simply change the existing product rather than creating a new duplicate of the product. It is useless. A person cannot even edit any products that have had a Change All done because one cannot save a product with an extant product code.

The latest is that a new Vista load worked fine. The EZPOS software was first installed after the computer had joiced the domain. It onnects and works perfectly.

The computer that stopped allowing connections to be edited after joining the domain still does not work as an EZPOS client.

The file permissions work fine. I can read and edit files on the NAS . Permissions are controlled by Windows file services.

The Easy POS software will not allow the file location to be changed. When you click on the Connect link a small window pops up and disappers almost immediately. It was conected to the NAS prior to joining the domain. At that time it was no longer able to connect.

Once again, the computer has full read, write access rights to the file location.

It worked fine prior to joining a domain and has never worked since.

I can copy the files to the local drive and run the software fine from the local drive. Accessing remote files is not possible because of software problems in Easy POS.

Since it works fine in a primitive configuration but stops the moment the computer joins a domain it is a software issue unrelated to sharing, firewall or anti virus software. It appears to be a rights issue. I already tried opening massive holes in the software firewall without effect. I turned off the AV software at the same time without the software working.  I tired turning off both with no success. The user account retains read write privileges to the NAS. Our NAS is an older version of Samba that cannot join a Windows 2008 domain. Passwords have not changed.

My best guess is that due to this software not being registered in Windows it fails to inherit rights correctly. Alternatively it is not correctly accessing files using the valid logged in user account.

If the folder has to be shared without a password then it is a show stopper. No sane business owner would expose a shared folder without password on a network if it had internet access. Among other problems, they could not process cards with software.

I don't believe it is possible to set up a user account without password on our NAS. If it was we would not do it. Windows resolves user rights to the NAS.

Followed directions. Restarting the program began the setup process. Software asked for register number. Answered, hit enter.  Next the main menu opens followed by popup window with "Generic Exception" message. Clicking OK button on popup window closes popup immediately followed by closing main menu. Same result every time we restart.

Tried redeleting LocalFileNames and using a different register number with the same results.

As a reminder, the software worked prior to joining the domain.

Copied ezp folder from the NAS. Now software starts and tring to "Connect" produces the same results.Window opens and immediately closes.

Did you ever figure out why the software cannot locate files in a domain?

Since a domain is required for effective managment of computers, it is a valid point for anyone running more than one computer / workstation.

Also when will it begin to be wrapped in an installer program so it registers itself in Windows? I suspect the questions are related.

The Vista PC was able to connect using this computer prior to joining the domain. Since joining the domain users get the Generic Exception on all accounts. I added a local user as an Administrator of the PC and was unable to connect on that account.  Turned off MS Security Essentials, same error.

I used explorer to look at the Users/Public/../DR13/ezp directory. There was no such folder. I created one, tried logging in, still got Generic exception. It was now empty expcept for three files. I copied the entire contents of the folder from our NAS to the local PC without replacing those files. It was then able to log in. When I tried to connect to the network folder the progress window flashed up and disappeared immediately with no effect.

Turned off MS Security Essentials, same error.

ezPower / Generic Exception on Vista
« on: November 14, 2013, 08:53:03 AM »
We are running version 13. We added a computer to the network. We loaded EzPOS and it worked fine. It was able to navigate to the NAS the files are located on.

We joined that PC running Windows Vista to the Windows 2008 domain. Suddenly the program won't run and we only get a generic exception message. I tried a different user account, same effect. I added a rule in the windows firewall completely unblocking ezPOS, same effect. I removed the software and reloaded it, same effect.

We have another PC running Vista, which in not a domain member because it is Vista Home and the softare runs fine.

Any suggestions?

Selling product causes inventory to decrease. If additional product is not received through the PO system as it is acquired then inventory could display as negative.

I use a spreadsheet to reconcile. The sales taxes are calculated and generally match unless a taxable item is sold with tax deleted (sold to a tax exempt entity). The spreadsheet then produces the end of month GL posting report.

All products have assigned departments. Services show in the service department. Payouts would be tracked if they were done, but they are paid by check through payables. Returns are not always reflected in the z-out report but appear to be included in the department report.

The end of month posting to remove inventory from the GL Retail inventory accounts have to balance to the z out totals or the difference goes into over and short. Sorry, but the reports have to balance.

Who ever heard of bookkeeping software that did not balance?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

ezPower / Re: Avg Cost
« on: November 01, 2013, 06:38:11 AM »
Is there a way to use the tool that does not duplicate every item in the list? Every time I have used the change all (fill in the blank) function it has created duplicates of every product in the list. I get tired of having to delete the duplicate items after fixing whatever else.

Avg Cost keeps an accurate cost.

Could you help me understand why it shows us losing money every time I sell something sells for $5 which now shows a cost of $126.91 (each) and is built from an item in the case break quantity of 36 with a cost of $40. Both items were entered as new items (not duplicated from other items). The only other thing obviously impacting these products would be manually entering prices and quantities and then using PO to add inventory to the case once I understood how case break worked.

Thanks. The tools menu makes POs much more useful now that you pointed it out.

ezPower / Export PO?
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:50:35 PM »
There is so much in the software we may have missed it. Is there a way to export a PO so we can use this software to create POs rather than having to use POs simply as a means to adding inventory and updating costs?

If I had it exported then we could use the data to do online buys at my vendors. Having only screen view of it make it worthless for that purpose.

Is there a way to clear out the fictional gift cards that are left over from the software demo?
