When making customer payments, we get to the payment method and have the option to add in a comment.
All the machines we use are touch screen with no physical keyboards.
However, there is no virtual keyboard icon in this section to add a comment.
Can this be rectified?

Are you talking about the "Change" window?
-
When we click on make payment, we are asked for the payment method, and have an option to write in notes

In Windows XP:
Start / All Programs / Accessories / Accessibility / On-Screen Keyboard
You can minimise this keyboard and use it when ever you need it.
Windows 8:
Touch Keyboard logo/icon can be found next to Date and Time on bottom of the screen, you can always click the logo/icon and brings up a nice large keyboard.
Or you can also go to Search on the right hand side in Windows 8/Desktop and search Keyboard.

I know I can start the keyboard manually, but this is inconvenient.
All the other locations in the program have a keyboard icon next to a text input area except this spot?

Which version of Windows are you running at the moment?
What information do you usually type in there ?
Can you see what you type in there after ? How do you retrive this data
In Z out or else where ?

Look at the window title bar. Does it say Change?

Wow, I hadn't noticed this feature before! Yes, it's in the window that's labeled "Change" after a transaction is rung up. And it looks like it shows up on the daily reconciliation. We'll have to start using that!
One question, knightline, how do you function otherwise without a keyboard? I've gone mouseless with a touch monitor, but how would you enter customer names or shipping information? Or don't you have that to worry about?
